Students will learn not only the techniques involved in foot reflexology, Shiatsu, Thai or Swedish massage, let's say, but they will also get to know more about the structure and function of the musculo-skeletal system, kinesiology, body mechanics, joint mobilization, nerves and postural analysis, among others. Accredited schools usually guide their students on anatomical, physiological and psychological terms in order for them to become more well-rounded and effective therapists.

Other advantages would be the hands-on training experience, externship and internship opportunities as well as career assistance. While unaccredited massage therapist schools may also offer hands-on training, you can be sure that you will receive clinical and technical assistance in accredited ones. Externship opportunities may also open up since more often than not, these schools have established tie-ups with other institutions or they have their own servicing centers. The students, after ample training, may be given the chance to work in those said centers and may be personally supervised by an instructor.
