Licensed Massage Therapy
Why Licensed Massage Therapy Specialists Earn More
Apart from the fact that they do have permits and other accreditations to boot, licensed massage therapy specialists earn more because they have the option to charge more. This "consent" given to them has proven to be one of the main reasons as to why people currently undergoing massage therapy training strive hard to graduate and obtain their licenses. On the other hand, currently unlicensed therapists also make this as their main motivation to meet all necessary requirements, hours, hands on training and experience for a license. Moreover, those who seek better career paths think that the good rates charged by licensed massage therapy specialists are enough reasons for them to undergo massage education and pursue massage therapy careers. In the United States, the going rate these days for a half an hour session with a licensed therapist is around 45 dollars. This is definitely a far cry from the hourly wage of a certified nurse assistant, let's say, who receives around 10 dollars or from the hourly rate of a registered nurse, who gets around 25 dollars. There are also different rates should the patient want to have a session with the principal licensed massage therapy specialist in a spa or wellness center. These principals or senior therapists usually have the most number of years in terms of experience and they have undergone a lot of massage therapy trainings, hence, the "license" to ask for higher fees. If the therapist is needed for outcalls or home services, he or she can also charge up to one hundred and fifty dollars per hour. Special rates may also be arranged for series of therapy sessions.
Clearly, the lucrative rates alone prove that once a therapist has that much coveted license, he or she gets to earn more. However, the therapist can also "earn" other things beyond money. For one, he or she can "earn" a wide array of massage modalities plus the chance to undergo training in institutions or private practices cum centers that are otherwise difficult to get into. In Asia, for instance, there may be a lot of Thai massage schools but some special, expensive and technical centers only accept students that already have licenses and other forms of recognition. Such will ensure that their out of the ordinary methods of teaching will be imparted to expert or experienced therapists. A lot of massage therapists want to get in some of these technical centers since they know they can learn more than the usual textbook and hands-on teachings. They know that they can learn very useful tips and unique information, too. Given these, licensed therapists do get better deals not only in terms of financial gain but in terms of personal skills and knowledge as well. Why not become one today? |
